Okay big change on this one, Littlepixel has weaved his magic spell over the graphics, I've finally grasped my way towards an actual format and I think we're most of the way there to it working (still some polish to put on things content wise). Hope you enjoy it, a whole bunch of work went in to this Happily taking topic suggestions, or things you may think will work in the videos.

Yep enjoyed that……the best car owned well that’s a difficult one for me having owned so many in 35 years YMD 310H a lovely aubergine 1600E was sensational but killed by two brothers I sold it to, who rmad knew well back in the late 80s! Also I loved my ghia x Granada should of kept it Also another favourite which many still don’t get in terms of retro Was my C250TD W202 Mercedes by far the most reliable car and I kept it seven years ..normally keep my cars less than a year I regret selling that car immensely

Best car?
That's such a tough question, there are so many factors. I've owned many cars that ticked plenty of the boxes but overall, the best car I've owned wasn't/isn't retro at all, it was a first generation Mazda6 estate.
It was a family car that I got really cheap and drove 100k miles in it without a single incident and it cost me nothing except service items in 8 years. It was still on its original, very good clutch when I sold it on. It was pretty rapid with the 140bhp petrol lump, drove like a car half it's size and was like a van with the seats down. Comfy, electric everything, cruise, Bose audio and even the MPG was reasonable.
However, my best retro? Those cars you buy because you really want one? The ones you spend ages looking for? That's a tie between my E36 Sport Touring or E46 325 Sport.

Just like HoTWire I'd like to pick a car I still own, but in an older version. Back in 2007 (picture was made at RR07 at Mallory Park) this car was slow, rusty and in need of TLC. It never let me down though! Did track days, drift days, drove it all over Europe. Never missed a beat. After the restoration and upgrades it looked fantastic, drove better, but wasn't as faultless as those first 3 years! It's in the barn for almost 5 years now, hasn't turned a wheel.

New RRTV format really great, Not that I am biased (as Max Boyce might have once said) Best Car? It was probably this - my 1970 Saab 99—even when the horn got stuck 'on' on a 10 mile drive home. Comfy, revvy, Never missed a beat. Lovely Triumph engine. All The Chrome. Smelt amazing.

The best Retro I have owned is my 1985 Mini Mayfair. This was much customised to the point til wasn't really a Mayfair, but an interpretation of the best Mini that I could afford at the time. Late model Cooper front and rear seats (very comfy for a Mini), 1302cc engine with MED head and twin 1 1/4" SU Carbs and K&Ns, full Maniflow exhaust, grooved Cooper S brakes & EBC pads, lots of chrome and Cooper Reverse 10"rims with Yokohama A008 tyres. It had a handmade dash that me and my friend Tink built with the big speedo in front of the driver as well as a decent stereo and a CB! It also had a KAD Quickshift and Koni shocks. The only thing I didn't do was have adjustable suspension - that would have been next. It also had a flip paint roof - it looked red most of the time but in direct sunlight it would change to orange, green, gold and blue depending on the angle you were looking at it. Clever stuff but not something I'd do again - very much an early 2000s thing! It may have been the best, but was it my favourite? No. Like old Top Gear preferring Alfas which were massively worse than their competitors, I'd choose the fast 1330cc 1275GT Mini I had in the mid 90s. Horrifically unreliable, noisy, uncomfortable and it ate tyres, as well as never being properly set-up, both in the suspension and engine departments, it was everything the red Mini was not. Yet I utterly adored it. To this day it remains the only vehicle I wish I had never sold.

Probably the 911 , had it for the longest , went everywhere in it ,modified it , tracked it, met great mates due to it .. until I grew out of it and the Porsche tax that now comes with them.. a great car..

I have owned a lot of good cars...and bad. I will pick one of the most memorable ones, the one that I just LOVED to drive! Identical to this. Just a boggo 1998 3 door Ibiza TDI with a whopping 90BHP. Fabulous handling, punchy turbine smooth engine, comfortable, I mean COMFORTABLE where everything felt just right, it was massive fun to drive and returned excellent fuel economy. I was living in Mallorca at the time and was so tempted to bring it back with me but I didn't. That car proved that pure BHP is irrelevant to the fun factor. I've owned many cars since, retro and modern but none have really had the out and out driving for fun package that came with that car. I keep searching though!

Hands down my Astra, 350 quid with 12 months MOT in 2009, as an 18 year old it was thrashed, abused, used as a van, used as a long distance taxi, brought 2 offspring home 8 years apart, rescued quite a lot of friends cars in one way or another, used to move house twice in it. It's slow, but I can always count on it to start, it's gone from 90k when I got it to 176k now, with only 2 breakdowns, it blew the diff (good box and new clutch fitted for less than £100) and an ignition live failed to the alternator, just wired a new one. I genuinely cannot fault this little bucket of bolts, and I love it.

I hate to be a party pooper on the format & also break the MO on positivity, but I really didn't like the jingle/scene change bits - it felt like being back to 80s/90s Top Gear, and not in a good way.
I appreciate a lot of time and effort went in to making it, so I apologise if that offends.

I enjoyed the video, that Z3 speedster is a particularly lovely thing! I do agree with mylittletony to some extent, the jingles were a little bit cheesy for me, and the animation was a little bit long to go in the middle of the video if that makes sense? Maybe simplify it a bit? But as I say, I thought it was a good vid still and an improvement I think my best car on balance would be my BMW 520i touring It had it's issues with rust and nearly stranding me with a dying crank position sensor, but the rest of the time it was a dependable workhorse that could sometimes pass for being kinda cool. That and I enjoyed adding all the OEM+ upgrades to it, although ultimately I would have been better off buying a higher spec one in the first place. Which relating to another point in the video, I've seen the E34 labelled by some as "the last proper 5 Series" but I've also seen that applied to the E39, and I'm sure I once saw it attached to the E28 by someone

My Deli. Aside from being super practical it's also great fun to hoon round country lanes in on my commute. Can't see me ever getting rid, there's nothing comparable really that would replace it.

Define 'best'? My 740 diesel estate is a cracking tool. It'll carry almost anything, it's quiet, comfy and economical (average more than 45mpg in my ownership). That said, I've done 35,000 miles in it and I don't love it in the way I love some of my other cars. My VW Camper is, by comparison, flawed. It's not especially economical, and it's bouncy, slow, and tatty. But I've owned it 15 years and love it. It has so many memories - camping trips in Spain, France, and UK. I'd probably regard it as my best car purchase and it'd almost certainly be the one I'd find hardest to sell.

I think it's a real tossup between the U/T swapped X1/9 and my old XJ40. The X1/9 has taken a boatload of work to get it/keep it on the road and working, and I've only actually managed to do maybe 10,000 miles in it max. It's cold as the windows don't seal, it's noisy, the gearchange is abysmal (it's one I made myself, started out wonderful but needs a better bearing surface as it's worn badly), it's got horrible blowby on cylinder 3 and now it's off the road with a dead headgasket. I put it through a hedge in Wales and spent a year repairing it. But man do I enjoy driving it. Turbos make these cars. Gives them enough of a push to keep up with the chassis. Now that it's off the road, every windy road I drive down, and every retro car I see driving past, I wish I was in the Fiat*. *I expect it's not specifically the Fiat that would do this, the Spitfire or T2000 or Alfa 75 or XJ40 would do a similar job. The XJ40 was the first cool old car I bought that was actually running and driving, and I spent about 3 years rolling around in it. There's something about these cars that just makes you feel like a boss driving around in them, especially as a 21 year old when everyone else is in '02 Corsas and other little learner-boxes. Comfy, reliable, practical. Not fast per se, but you could tell it had a nice balance to it. Smelt amazing. The fuel costs financially ruined me on my £14k per year job, but I took it all over the place. This was it outside the holiday house we used to have in central France after it effortlessly cruised through the night on the 6 hour journey down there. Can't wait to have it back on the road hopefully with far more power than it has any right to have, and 50mpg economy

I had to really think about this one as my heart is definitely with the yanks I have owned but removing the emotion and being honest with myself, it has to be 99 LS400. Absolutely classy without the "in your face" image of it's germanic counterparts of that era. Hand on heart the best cruiser I have driven!

Best car is this. Saab 900 Talladega FPT. I paid £360 for it and ran it for about 3 years. It got remapped by Jules on UkSaabs and was incredible. It had 175k on it when I parted with it and it still went like curse word off a shovel. I still have the original grille hanging from the rafters in my garage. I'd wanted a Saab with a turbo since I was a kid. I'm now on my third.
